3:00 to 6:00 pm

University of Arizona Maricopa County Cooperative Extension: 4341 E Broadway Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85040

Smartscape is a training program specifically designed for professionals in the landscape industry and associated fields. A range of students attend Smartscape, such as those owning or working for landscaping companies (installation and maintenance supervisors and crew members, or office personnel involved in scheduling field staff or contracting), employees of municipal parks and recreation departments, nurseries, landscape architecture or design firms, and property management companies, as well as HOA members.

Smartscape programs are designed to provide education on a wide range of topics encountered in the landscape field, with instruction from experts in the green industry. Attendees can earn continuing education for International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), or the Arizona chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (AzASLA) certification.

The Smartscape course prepares students with the essential skills to plan, create, and care for water-efficient landscapes. Smartscape delivers 20 hours of high-quality education on the best irrigation and horticultural practices for the desert southwest. Students receive a Smartscape Study Guide, manual, and additional materials, all with valuable information and resources.

*REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.* Contact the Program Coordinator if you wish to pay with a check.

Completion Requirements

The Smartscape certificate requires payment of the $95 Smartscape registration fee, attendance for all ten workshops, and a passing grade of 70% on the test.

1. The maximum number of classes that can be missed and made up is two. Missing more than two classes disqualifies you from becoming a Smartscape graduate.
2. You have a year to complete any make-up class(es).
3. You may attend the missed class at the next Smartscape course (preferred, so you receive the exact information), or attend an approved workshop offered by another organization.
More detailed information will be provided during the course.
