CLASS 1: Wildlife and Pollinator Ecology Overview

Objectives: After completing the lesson, the student will be able to:

  1. Recognize the value of native pollinators and identify common pollinators in Pima County
  2. Describe general habitat needs of wildlife and pollinators in Pima County
  3. Demonstrate how landscaping maintenance can either help or hinder wildlife and pollinators

CLASS 2: Plant Materials for Wildlife and Pollinator Conservation

Objectives: After completing the lesson, the student will be able to:

  1. Discuss what makes a plant “native.”
  2. Identify some of the most valuable pollinator and wildlife plants for Pima County Landscapes.
  3. Describe how some non-native ornamentals can also support native pollinators and wildlife.

CLASS 3: How to Design your Site-Specific Wildlife and Pollinator Planting Palette

Objectives: After completing the lesson, the student will be able to:

  1. Describe how site constraints can affect species choice.
  2. Evaluate a species list for its potential to provide overlapping bloom periods.
  3. Consider additions to a plant palette to increase resources for pollinators and other wildlife.
  4. Be familiar with 20 excellent native pollinator plants for Tucson.
